Grenada is the most southerly island in the Grenadines chain and lies some 90 miles (145 km) north of Venezuela. The island has an area of 133 square miles (344km2). It is 21 miles long and 12 miles wide at its widest point with a coastline of 121 miles. The capital St George’s is one of the most picturesque capital cities in the Caribbean with a horseshoe shaped harbour surrounded by colourful buildings on steep hillsides.
The interior of Grenada is mountainous with Mount Saint Catherine as its highest peak at 2,757 feet (840 m). There are many rivers flowing from the mountains to coast providing waterfalls and natural pools along their course.

Our island is known as The Spice Isle because we are the largest exporter of nutmeg in the world. In fact, we have a museum dedicated to it which explains how the spice is used in our traditional dishes. We also have a food festival annually that highlights our diverse cuisine and provides an opportunity for visitors to sample local dishes including callaloo soup , oildowns , oil down , mount d'or cheese , curry chicken , fish broth , shrimp broil , coconut bread , pepperpot stew , patties/pastries with beef /shrimp/lobster/chicken , green figs & saltfish , and much more!
